Hanover opens baseball series with 14-4 win

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University baseball team took on Hanover College on Friday, April 29. It was set to be a doubleheader but the second game was halted due to darkness after nine innings tied at three runs apiece. The Panthers took the first game, piling up 14 runs on 16 hits, while Bluffton finished with four runs on 11 hits.

Retired Pandora physician, Dr. "Ollie" Lugibihl, Bluffton Lions Citizen of the Year

Dr. Oliver Lugibihl, a Pandora native with many Bluffton connections, is the 2015 Bluffton Lions Club Citizen of the Year.

His award was presented on April 19 during a Lions banquet at First Mennonite Church.

Better known as “Ollie,” and known for his considerate bedside manner, Dr. Lugibihl served the Bluffton-Pandora area for over 40 years before retiring from in 2004.

Slaw Cutter Co. is tagged trout number 1 in Sunday's Sportmen's fishing derby

The Bluffton Sportmen's Club has Sunday's tagged trout number 1 named after the Bluffton Slaw Cutter Company.

The slaw cutter company, now in its 101th year, is owned by by Bob Sehlhorst.

This year’s trout derby, the 72nd annual, is held from 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Buckeye Quarry, Main St., Bluffton.

Don't forget the chicken barbecue held at the Sportmen's clubhouse in the depot on Spring Street. Dinners at $8 each and are on sale while supplies last starting at 11 a.m.

University student garage sale Saturday 10-2

Here's a "different" kind of Bluffton garage sale. It's a Bluffton University campus-wide sale.

You'll find it from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 30, in Burky Gym, which is part of Founders Hall.

Items include students selling lofts, furniture, dorm decor, clothing, etc. The garage sale is hosted by Bluffton University Business Leaders Club
