Severe thunderstorms heading this way

Here's a weather update from AEP:

Severe thunderstorms containing damaging wind gusts to 60 mph will threaten portions of
AEP Ohio and I&M Power this afternoon into early tonight. A hot, humid, and increasingly unstable air mass is in place over the region. An approaching upper-level disturbance and cold front will trigger the storms.

BFR chicken barbecue fundraiser tickets on sale

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a Harlan’s chicken barbecue from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, in the BFR parking lot.

The barbecue is a fundraiser for the BFR turf project for the gym and arena. Tickets are $10 each. Each meal includes one-half chicken, potato salad, green beans and a roll.

Tickets are on sale at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

BFR golf outing fundraiser for new turf in arena and gym

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a golf outing at the Bluffton Golf Club, 8576 Dixie Highway, Bluffton, at 9 a.m., Friday, July 10, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

Golfers must register by Wednesday, July 1. The cost is $60 per golfer or $240 for a team. The outing includes 18 holes and is a four-man scramble.

Food is provided by Thirsty’s of Beaverdam following the outing. Proceeds from the outing go toward new turf at BFR.

P-G Athletic Department golf outing July 18

Pandora-Gilboa High School athletic department will hold a golf outing on Saturday, July 18, at Hidden Creek Golf Club, 6245 Sugar Creek Road, Lima. It has a 9 a.m. shot gun start.

The entry fee if $50 per player, which includes green fees, cart and dinner. Make checks payable to the Pandora-Gilboa Athletic Department. 

Prizes include closest to the pin and closest putt.
