We can't believe that's it's August. Can you?

The Bluffton Public Library is ready for the eighth month of the year, even if we aren't. Several highlights take place and each is listed on the August library activity calendar.

The deal of the summer - pool passes half-price

Here's the deal of the summer.

Season passes at Bluffton Community Swimming Pool are now half-price, according to Jennie Wilson, pool manager.

That means the following:
• Family pass is now $65
  (Good for two adults and three youth. Additional youth are $5 per child)
• Single individual pass is now $50

Passes are available at the pool. Pool hours are:
Mondays through Fridays - noon to 8 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays - 1 to 7 p.m.

Community worship service Sunday on Prebysterian lawn

Bluffton's annual summer community worship service is at 9 a.m., Sunday, July 31, in the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn. It is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.

The theme is drawn from the community VBS program, “Deep Sea Discovery,” and music from that event will be shared by children who attended VBS during the service.

Brent Warren on EKU dean's list

Brent Warren of Jenera was named to the Dean's List at Eastern Kentucky University. He has finished his second year and is majoring in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering. He is a 2014 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School.

Sandy Yoakam was a 1964 Pandora-Gilboa HS graduate

Sandra "Sandy" L. Yoakam, 69, of Reynoldsburg and formerly of Bluffton was died July 25, 2016, at her residence.  Sandy was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Myron and Mary Ellen (Rickly) Reichenbach.

Sandy had worked various jobs including the Christian Armory for 12 years, was a secretary at Bank One and was a typesetter at various newspapers and magazines, proofreader and editor. 

She was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church near Mt. Cory. Sandy was a 1964 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School.
