Will your child be 5 by Aug. 1? Then Kindergarten approaches

It’s time to think about Kindergarten for the 2016-2017 school year.

Any child who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1, 2016, is eligible to enroll. In order to develop a Kindergarten mailing list, parents and care-givers should contact the Bluffton elementary office at 419-358-7951 or email to [email protected].

The following information is needed:
• child’s name,
• birthdate,
• parent(s) names,
• address, and
• phone number.

University cooking series accepting people hungry to learn about nutrition

Bluffton University’s junior nutrition students will host its 2016 Cooking Series from Feb. 22 to April 18 in the first floor of Berky Hall. Lunch and dinner options are available. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Each session includes a 20-30 minute cooking demonstration, nutritional information and a full meal. Lunches will be held from noon-1 p.m. on Mondays, starting on Monday, Feb. 22. This meal will consist of foods that conquer winter depression. Monday lunches will be held on Feb. 29, March 14 and 21 and April 4, 11 and 18.
 

Webb named HCAC Athlete of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University’s Terrill Webb (Kenton) turned in a record-setting performance at Ohio Northern Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week. 

The junior won the pole vault with a school-record of 12-5.50, besting the field by over eight inches while also shattering her school-record 12-0 vault set at Findlay less than a month ago. Webb's 12-5.50 is a new Joe Banks meet record as well!

University jazz, concert band winter concert Feb. 21

Bluffton University’s Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band will perform during the Winter Instrumental Concert of 2016 at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Under the direction of Dr. Roy Couch, the Jazz Ensemble will perform several selections including, “Love Matters the Most,” composed by Mark Taylor and, “Rush Hour,” composed by Lennie Niehaus. The Jazz Ensemble is comprised of 18 musicians; these musicians are students of Bluffton University and community members.
 

P-G Boy Scouts hold pancake/sausage dinner Feb. 14

Pandora-Gilboa Boy Scout Troop 226 is having a Pancake & Sausage Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 14, from 10:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E. Washington St. (Rt 12), Pandora.

Ticket prices are: Presale, adults $5; at the door, adults $7; kids 4-12, $4; and 3 & Under free. Carry-outs available, drinks included.
