It's one of those days. But, at least it's not snowing. And, we all know what April showers bring. We also understand the sun will come out this weekend.

ONU to name stage in honor of former Bluffton residents Nils and Susan Riess

Ohio Northern University will dedicate the Freed Center for the Performing Arts’ stage in honor of former Bluffton residents Nils and Susan Riess on Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. prior to the ONU production of “Footloose.”

Dorothy Williams taught school for 38 years; volunteered with many organizations

Dorothy Williams, 94, of Bluffton died at 2:50 p.m. April 2, 2014, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.  She was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Pandora to the late Christian and Clara Suter Locher. 

Mrs. Williams was a retired teacher and guidance counselor, having been an educator for 38 years, the last 26 with Lima Public Schools. She also taught in Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, Nevada and American Dependent Schools of Japan.

Lewis Family McDonald’s hosts hiring day on April 8

Lewis Family McDonald’s is looking to hire at several of its 17 restaurants this Tuesday, April 8. This marks the third year that the local franchise has held a company-wide hiring day.

“As summer nears, we find ourselves needing additional crew people to take care of each and every guest. We hope to fill those needs with a company-wide hiring day,” said local owner/operator Jerry Lewis.

Persons attending (spoiler ending!) beware, you may have to converse with the Mystic in an impromptu conversation. That conversation may take place during the performance. 

Everett Collier's summer plans includes 3,600 mile bike trip for a good cause

Bluffton cyclist Everett Collier takes lots of bike rides around the block, and this summer that block extends for 3,600 miles.

Collier will participate in the 7th annual Fuller Center Bike Adventure. It’s a bike ride from Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Astoria, Oregon. The ride starts June 5 and finishes on Aug. 10 – with several stops along the way where bikers will assist in building projects with Fuller Center covenant partners.

As of the of March Collier had raised over $6,000 for his efforts in the trip.
