Ever seen a dragonfly whiz by?

Naturalist Dan Hodges, from Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District, will be teaching on Dragonflies and Damselflies on Wednesday, June 19 at 6 p.m., in the Bluffton Public Library's lower level meeting room.

Milestone of Senior Corp recognized

Sen. Sherrod Brown was one of many members of the US Senate who co-sponsored a resolution recognizing Senior Corps Volunteers for over 50,000,000 hours served in 2018 of direct service through more than 23,000 nonprofit, educational, and faith-based community groups nationwide.

Senior Corps is a network of national service programs for Americans 55 years and older, made up of three primary programs that each take a different approach to improving lives and fostering civic engagement.

Medical education building announced

St. Rita’s Medical Center will construct it in Lima

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center announces construction of an education center designed to train new physicians.

With the support of local donors, St. Rita’s will soon begin construction on a 48,000-square-foot education center to be built on the corner of Market and Collett streets.

Update from Bluffton Cattle Club

The Bluffton Cattle Club will be going to the State Fair on July 31. As a fundraiser, the club will be selling chicken barbecue tickets for $8.50, not including dessert and drinks. The dinner will be Sunday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bluffton Middle School. See a Bluffton Cattle Club 4H member to buy tickets.

Local blood drive on June 27

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked outside Bluffton Hospital on Thursday, June 27 for a local blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bloodmobile will be parked at 139 Garau Street, in the hospital parking lot.

What do kids want at the Buckeye park?

Village park and rec committee put that question to elementary students - answers are fascinating

Ask a kid for an opinion and you’ll get it.

Expect some great ideas when you ask.

The village parks and recreation committee (Ben Stahl council member; Mitch Kingsley council member; Mayor Richard Johnson and Jesse Blackburn, village administrator), sent a questionnaire to Bluffton elementary students.

Committee members wanted to know elementary youths thoughts on what would be good features for the Buckeye park.
