Bluffton's Fall Festival offers lots of events on Saturday

The Bluffton community’s 12th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival.

Here’s the schedule:

Bluffton schools hold open house September 28

The Bluffton Schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday, September 28. The elementary school will be open from 6-7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and the high school from 7-8 p.m.

Several community organizations will have booths set-up in the elementary gymnasium and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.

All parents and community members are invited to this open house event to meet staff members, observe facilities, and learn more about the educational opportunities available to Bluffton students.

Jim Boedicker performs at Saturday's Farmers' Market

Popular area musician, Jim Boedicker, will perform at the Bluffton Farmers' Market on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The market is located in the Citizens National Bank parking lot on South Main Street. Market hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon. Boedicker will perform in the Market's Main Street entrance. 

The Market is part of this year's Bluffton Fall Festival, also taking place on Saturday. The Market is sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

University forum: Health care law expert urges more expanded access

While the Constitution doesn’t guarantee a right to health care, “neither has it, by and large, stood in the way” while Congress has “slowly recognized a responsibility to ensure relatively universal access” to care, according to a law professor and authority on the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

A right to care “is not yet fully realized,” but the vast majority of Americans now have access to federally subsidized coverage via President Obama’s health care law, said Dr. Timothy Jost, who spoke Sept. 22 at Bluffton University.
