University cross country sweeps HCAC Athletes of the Week

 

The Bluffton University cross country teams capped a successful outing at Otterbein when freshman Colin McCloskey (Sylvania/Northview) and senior Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kan./Remington) were named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 23, 2012.

Colin McCloskey placed fifth overall at the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The freshman posted a collegiate personal record, finishing with a time of 27:21.3. The Beavers fashioned a fifth-place finish as a team in the nine school event.

Alison Janzen led the Bluffton women at the Otterbein Invitational and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The senior completed the 5K course with a time of 20:39.6 to place 22nd among collegiate athletes.

The Beavers jump right back into action next weekend at the All Ohio cross country championships held on the campus of Cedarville University (Saturday, Sept. 29). The field will include D1, D2, D3 and NAIA schools from across Ohio.
