New Year's Eve caroling

The annual New Year's Eve caroling, featuring the traditional Swiss-German carols composed in this community, will start at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Maple Crest Senior Living Village on Augsburger Road, Bluffton. 

Please note the earlier time this year. Music will be provided. Bring your friends and relatives to take part in this joyful tradition.

New Year's Eve this year will once again find the residents of Maple Crest Senior Living Village in Bluffton enjoying the long-standing tradition of New Year's serenading.

Special council meeting tonight

Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, issued the following announcement: "The Village of Bluffton will have a special council meeting on Monday, Dec.  30, at 8 p.m. on the third floor of the town hall to pass necessary legislation by emergency before Jan. 1, 2020."

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton ran out to a double-digit halftime lead and cruised to a 55-41 win over Arcadia in non-conference girls basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Bluffton led by four early and stretched the lead to 31-16 at halftime with a 20-9 second quarter. The Lady Redskins edged the Pirate girls 25-24 after intermission, but the outcome was all but decided by then.

The Lady Pirates improved to 8-1 overall behind their eighth consecutive victory. Meanwhile, Arcadia fell to 6-3 with the defeat.

It's Beavers over Otterbein by 20

Renner paced Bluffton with 14 points on 5-of-11 from the field while pulling down seven rebounds; Cosby notched 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 1-of-2 from three-point land

The Bluffton University men's basketball team played host to Otterbein College in the annual McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Classic opener on Saturday, Dec. 28.

It would be all Beavers from the get go as the home team never trailed in the contest which culminated in a 70-50 victory for the good guys.

Pirates holiday tourney champs

7-0 Pirates host undefeated Ottawa-Glandorf (8-0) Jan. 4 in a battle of unbeatens

BLUFFTON - Tournament host Bluffton got off to an early lead and held on to defeat Arlington 54-46 in the finals of its annual McDonald's Holiday Invitational Saturday night.

Senior Luke Denecker led the victors with 23 points in the championship game to win tournament MVP honors. He sank 11 of 12 free throws and two three-point goals to pace the victors.

Senior Jared Piercefield contributed 16 points, while classmate Mason Soper added nine markers.
