Dirt pudding on the menu at Girl Scout program at BFR

Dirt pudding is on the menu at the Girl Scout Summer Series held at Bluffton Family Recreation this week.

Nearly a dozen young girls are learning about “It’s Your Planet – Love It,” during the two-hour morning sessions.

Activities include discovering what real scientists do, exploring wonders of science with hands-on activities and learning the scientific method.

During this photo session, girls created dirt pudding, which is an interesting way to learn about soil.

Lincoln Highway Buy Way Yard Sale this weekend

You'll soon see more garage sales listed on the Icon than in any other week of the year. You might say that it’s a heavenly weekend for garage sale buyers and sellers.

It’s Main Street Across America’s Lincoln Highway Buy Way Yard Sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11-12-13, and Bluffton happens to be a couple miles of the action.

Beaverdam mayor Roberta Beemer told the Icon that may Beaverdam residents will participate.

Town and Country Flowers officially a North Main Street business

Deciding that investing in Bluffton is a great idea, Connie and Ken Kruse have officially moved Town and Country Flowers to its news location at 124 N. Main St. The move took place at the first of the month.

The shop is open for business and, according to Connie, the shop is very busy.

The Main Street flower shop owners with their shop previously located for 10 ½ years at 121 S. Main St., purchased the building housing the former Timeless Treasures that was owned by Steve and Jane Shaw.

CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO. Tuesday was a good day to spray paint. Ed Yagerman, Lima artist, shared his spray paint artist techniques with several students in a spray paint class at the Bluffton Public Library. There are several photos below of the artist at work.

The bread will be ready as soon as it comes out of the oven

The mural is growing.

The mural, which when completed will show Bluffton history in a diarama on the former Groves' Bear building.

Here's a close up of a loaf of bread going into the Swiss society's outdoor bake oven.

Ada police officer is okay following Monday accident

FROM ADA ICON - Ada police officer Sgt. Donald Deckling is okay after his police cruiser was involved in an accident on Aug. 8.

Deckling was traveling east on East North Street in Ada at 1:45 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north on North Johnson Street. The cruiser was hit on the passenger side and the cruiser turned onto its side.

Summer Miller of Lima, was the driver of the other vehicle. She was treated at the scene and was cited for failure to yield at the right of way at an intersection.
