The Deep Freeze and 7-Layer Cookies

One day long ago, when my brothers and I were young, my parents purchased a large deep freeze.

University hosts youth workers, pastors

Ohio Conference MC USA youth workers

Youth pastors and youth workers from Ohio Conference, Mennonite Church USA, gathered at Bluffton University, Nov. 12, as part of the second Ohio Youth Pastor Peer Group conference.

Thomas Dunn, youth pastor at Kidron Mennonite Church, Kidron, Ohio, and a 2007 graduate of Bluffton, introduced the idea of having a day set aside for youth pastors to gather at Bluffton and discuss their ministries.

Tarek Abuata, a Palestinian-American, and Sylvia Morrison, originally from Jamaica, answer questions following their Forum presentation at Bluffton University.

As part of Bluffton's Pathways scholars-in-residence program, three members of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) visited campus Nov. 10-12. Morrison, Abuata and Sandra Milena Rincon visited with students and classes, spoke during Forum and gave the Chapel message on Nov. 12.

Yokas tells chamber: "DTR has rehired all laid off associates"

Bill Yokas, senior vice president for manufacturing, DTR Industries, provided an update to Bluffton chamber members on DTR during the Nov. 13 chamber breakfast in the town hall.

He told chamber members that all associates laid off eariler this year have returned to work (except for temp workers).

"There are no sacred cows as we have looked at ways to reduce costs at DTR," he said. He told the chamber audience that DTR will beome an all-AV plant, as the rubber hose products will transfer to China.
