Bluffton council will need to fill Richard Johnson's "vacated" council seat; election results listed

Here is an overview of local races in the Nov. 3 general election. Winners indicated by *. 

Concerning Bluffton village races. David Steiner, who lost the mayor’s race, will retain his council seat.

Richard Johnson and Joseph Sehlhorts are winners of council seats.

Johnson registered to run for council prior to his appointment to council this year. His “appointed” seat will now be vacant. It will be council’s assignment to appoint someone to fill his vacated seat.

Don Jose Mexican restaurant opens Friday at 7 a.m.

Don Jose Mexican Restaurant, at 142 N. Main St., officially opens Friday, Nov. 6, according to Rafael Arciga, owner. Breakfast will be served starting at 7 a.m.

Customers will find a redecorated restaurant with a new menu and expanded hours.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Arciga grew up in California in a family that operated five Mexican restaurants. He said that he is very excited about opening the restaurant in Bluffton. He and his wife, Venecia, will operate it.

Bluffton downtown merchants invite you to a weekend Christmas open house Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7.

Area postal patrons received a four-page red holiday Christmas open house flyer. That flyer is also on the Icon as a printer-friendly attachment to this story. Coupons in the Icon's flyer may be printed and used during the open house weekend.

Emmanuel UCC fish fry Nov. 13

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, will hold a fish fry Friday, Nov. 13, from 4- 7 p.m.
