Ohio Mennonite youth ministry is topic of talk

Dr. Randy Keeler, an associate professor of religion at Bluffton University, will present “The State of Youth Ministry in the Ohio Mennonite Conference” during a campus colloquium on Friday, Dec. 4.

Free and open to the public, his talk will begin at 4 p.m. in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall.

English professor to discuss newest book

Jeff Gundy, a professor of English at Bluffton University, will present a program Thursday, Dec. 3, on his newly published book of poems, “Abandoned Homeland.”

Beginning with refreshments at 3:45 p.m., the event is free and open to the public in Bluffton’s Musselman Library Reading Room. Afterward, Gundy will sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase.

Nan Rooney and Della Salter receive lifetime memberships to Senior Center

Nan Rooney and Della Salter, both turning 90 in December, will receive Lifetime memberships into the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association during the Monday, Dec. 14, month center meeting, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

That announcement was in the December center newsletter. Several addition center items were listed. Those include:

Center will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and on Thursday, Dec. 31 and Friday, Jan. 1.

During November and December the center extends its hours to 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday mornings.

Stratton Auto & Tommy Tire sponsor free showings of "It's a Wonderful Life"

Stratton Auto Sales and Tommy Tire Sales will sponsor two free showings of the movie "It's a Wonderful Life," on Friday, Nov. 27, at the Shannon Theatre.

Showings are at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

It's a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American Christmas fantasy drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra, based on the short story "The Greatest Gift," which Philip Van Doren Stern wrote in 1939 and published privately in 1945.

Heaven Came Down - display of angels and nativity scenes at Mt. Cory church

Mount Cory United Methodist Church will host its 3rd annual "Heaven Came
Down."

It is a display of angels and nativity scenes. Showins are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 5 and 12, and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6 and 13, at the Bethel Family Life Center, 201 W. Washington St., Mount Cory.

This event is open to the public and is free of charge.

Two exhibits set for early December

Two art exhibitions will open Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Bluffton University. Both are free and open to the pubic.

Hannah Barber, a Bluffton senior from Bowling Green, Ohio, will present her senior show, “Aimless Wandering,” through Dec. 14 in the Marbeck Center Gallery. Her art is a mix of digital, drawing, painting, photography and 3-D work. The exhibit may be seen during building hours, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily; a reception will be held in the gallery from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
