Sophomore Kylie Stackhouse 1st team All-NWC spiker

Junior Taylor Schwab was named second team; sophomore setter Skyler Scoles

DELPHOS - Bluffton sophomore hitter Kylie Stackhouse was named first team All-Northwest Conference in voting by league coaches conducted recently at their annual meeting in Delphos.

The athletic Stackhouse led the Lady Pirates in kills and blocks. Bluffton finished 4-4 (tied for fourth) in the nine-team NWC and is 12-11 overall heading into the sectional finals.

Versatile Pirate junior Taylor Schwab was named second team all-conference. Schwab finished second for Bluffton in kills and digs.

Transportation Improvement Program meeting Friday morning

Village hosts meeting with Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission

Members of the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission and the Village of Bluffton will meet at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, on the first floor of the town hall, 154 N. Main St., according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.

He told The Icon that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Transportation Improvements Program (TIP).

On March 2015, the village passed a resolution in support of the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission to serve as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the county.

N. Laurence Burkhalter, 99, of Bluffton passed away October 15, 2019 at Willow Ridge – Betty House in Bluffton.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

First Tuesday in the library Forum presentation with Obi Martin

 Bluffton senior Obi Martin, an English major from Gordonville, Pa., will present, “When Spells Weren’t Cast But Written”, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. in Musselman Library’s Reading Room. 

Martin, who serves as assistant editor for “Bridge: The Bluffton University Literary Journal” will present on writing and performative arts, as well as his work with “The Curator” and “Leaf Magazine,” online and print literary journals based out of Hagerstown, Md.

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton swept Pandora-Gilboa in first round Div. IV sectional volleyball play Tuesday night to snap a five-match losing streak and advance in tournament play.

Youthful Bluffton moves on to the second round with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 victory over the eighth-seeded Lady Rockets. The win improved their season record to 12-11, while P-G ended up 12-11 with the loss.

Sophomore Kylie Stackhouse led the Lady Pirate offense with 18 kills. Senior Libby Schaadt and Haelynn Bischoff each contributed seven kills.
