Weldon Geiger was a lifelong farmer

Weldon C. Geiger, 85, died July 16, 2016, at 11:40 a.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Weldon was born March 6, 1931, in Bluffton to the late Pearl and Burdella (Amstutz) Geiger.  On Feb. 24, 1953 he married Marcine Welty Geiger who preceded him in death on Dec. 21, 2015.

Weldon retired from the Lima Ford Engine Plant after 25 years of service and was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 - 1961, served in the Korean War in 1953, was a member of the American Legion and the Swiss Historical Society. 

Survivors include two sons, Keith (Terry) Geiger of Ottoville, Rodney Lee (Linda) Geiger of Lima; a daughter, Teresa (Jonathan) Schutz of Columbus Grove; five grandchildren, Donavin Geiger, Megan Jones, Angela Geiger-Fields, Kayla Welch, Miranda Schutz; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Myron (Lou) Geiger of Dunkirk.

Weldon was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Geiger and a sister, Wilma Wilch.

Services will be held July 20 at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Revs. Jim King, Dick Potter, Charles Warren and Kathy Brauen officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery where military rites will be held. 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.  and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
