Hardin County Fair runs Sept. 3 to 8

The Hardin County Fair opens Tuesday, Sept. 3, and continues through Sunday, Sept. 8. The fairgrounds is located at 14134 Letson Ave., Kenton.

Season tickets and membership tickets are on sale at the following Ada locations:

  • Liberty National Bank
  • Quest Federal Credit Union
  • 4 Seasons Drive Thru
  • 302 Carryout

Season and membership tickets are $20. Season tickets admits one adult and family's children of school age and under all week. Membership tickets give admission and voting privileges.

Charles Baker was a Bluffton High School graduate

Former Bluffton resident and Bluffton High School graduate, Charles Allen Baker, 72, of Millville, Ohio, died at his home on Aug. 24, 2019. He was born Dec. 1, 1946.

He married Carla Lind on Aug. 23 1969, and she survives.

Also surviving are children, Jennifer (Baker) Willoughby and Nicholas Baker, son-in-law, Ken Willoughby, granddaughter, Adison Willoughby, and siblings, Anita (Baker) Ryan, Elaine Baker, Keith Baker, Margaret (Baker) Mann and Mary Jane (Baker) Gavin.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Arden and Jane (Miller) Baker.

An open interviews job fair is from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, in the Hilton Garden Inn, Findlay. Interviews are conducted by Guckenheimer, for food services positions in Bluffton. See the attachment below for complete details.

Senior Center announces bus and coach trips

Bluffton Senior Center offers four bus trips now through next spring, plus two coach trips during the same period, according to Tonya Meyer, Center director.

Coach trips:
• Sept 8-16 – Colorado’s vintage railways
• May 20-30, 2020 – Oberammergau, passion play, in Europe

University’s Summer Discovery Program

Senior designs her own social work internship

Rowena Zuercher ’20 is making the most of her college experience.

The social work and Spanish double major from Apple Creek, Ohio, is a student ambassador, active on campus and spent a semester in Guatemala. This summer, she created her own internship through the Summer Discovery Program which provides a $1,500 grant for Bluffton students to develop an internship experience in order to explore their vocation.
