Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary hosts Father’s Day pulled pork barbecue

The Bluffton Hospital Auxiliary will host a Father’s Day pulled pork barbeque on Sunday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Harmon Road and Garau Street, Bluffton.

The event will feature a pulled pork meal with two sides prepared by Todd Larson.

Tickets are $8 and are available from any Auxilian or at Bluffton Hospital, the Black Lab or Greg’s Pharmacy. Tickets must be purchased in advanced.

Dough Hook fresh meals for week of June 14

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., Bluffton, announces next week's fresh meals for a family of four options, according to Marlena Ballinger.

The program includes three meals per week for $49, which comes to $4.08 per person per meal.

Ballinger said that the meal boxes work like this:

After reviewing the menu a week ahead of time, customers may place orders and choose what day the boxes will be picked up.

Tree recognizes retiring chamber director

There's a new tree on Main Street. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce planted a tree in the Bluffton Public Library lawn recognizing retiring chamber director Fred Steiner. The plaque reads: "In recognition of Fred Steiner’s commitment and years of service to the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce." From left, Gen Akroyd, new chamber director, with board members, Luke Young, Mark Alliman, Doug Luginbill, Phil Zimmerly, Fred Steiner, Larry Hoffman, Jason Brandt, Tammy Whitlow and Bob Inniger. Three deer crossing the road...and off they go

The Icon slowed down for these three deer as they crossed the Tom Fett Road near Rockport Road in the middle of the afternoon last week.

Ima Jean Badertscher was retire from Triplett Corp.

Ima Jean Badertscher, 93, died June 4, 2016, at 7:05 a.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Ima Jean was born March 15, 1923, in Hancock County, Ohio, to Gilbert and Carrie (Gallant) Montgomery who preceded him in death. On Oct. 11, 1944 he married Leland Badertscher who survives. 

Ima Jean retired from Triplett Corporation, Bluffton.  She was a member of Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her grandchildren and was a graduate of Mt. Cory High School.
