Pioneers down Men's Soccer on Senior Day

Bluffton, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team capped off its 2016 campaign on Saturday, Oct. 29, with a Senior Day contest against Transylvania University. The weather was comfortable as the Beavers honored their six seniors prior to the match. Transylvania downed Bluffton 6-0, improving to 12-2-3 overall and 7-1-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton finished the season with a 3-15 mark (0-9 HCAC).

Transy netted two scores in the first half and added four tallies in the final period for the 6-0 victory. Senior Blake Drewes (Archbold) fired two shots on frame in his final match as a Beaver. Senior keepers Matt Hardman-Zimmerman (Forest City, Penn.) and Chris Wagler (Leipsic/Pandora-Gilboa) combined for eight saves. Alec Mast (Millersburg/Hiland) and Grant Stutzman (Sugarcreek/Hiland), who chipped in with one shot apiece, and defender Josh Carmack (Miamisburg) were all honored on Senior Day.

The visitors finished with a 30-6 advantage in shots, including 15-5 on frame. Transylvania forced all 12 corner kicks while Bluffton was whistled for three more fouls (5-2) as the Beavers wrapped up their first season under Head Coach James Kusak.
