Doris Conrad was active in Red Cross; started and managed hospital gift shop

Doris Dorothea Conrad, 91, died Jan. 26, 2017, at 4:50 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.  Doris was born Oct. 16, 1925 in New Bremen to the late Ralph and Lillian (Lent) Dunifon.  On Dec. 4, 1962, she married Herbert Conrad who preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2008.

Doris was a homemaker but had also worked at Triplett Corporation and Bluffton Stone Co. both of Bluffton.  She started and managed the Bluffton Hospital Gift Shop for eight years and was chairman of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile for 10 years.  Doris was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bluffton and enjoyed golfing, bowling, winters in Florida and traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynda (Ronald) Brown of Springfield, Ohio, Janet (Mark) Schumacher of New Knoxville, Ohio; a son, Larry (Jackie) Conrad of Findlay; eight grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ann Dunifon of Bluffton and several nieces and nephews. 

Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Dunifon Jr. and a sister, Louise Quick.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Carol Clements officiating. 

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or the Bluffton Fire Department.
