BHS girls' golf team launches the sport with a win against LCC and Lima Senior

Bluffton High School launched its first-ever girls' golf team this season and opened play with a win.

BHS opponents were Lima Central Catholic and LIma Senior. Bluffton's team score was 223. 

Individual player scores follow: (9 holes)

1.  Kayleigh Coughlan (Captain) 57
2.  Alivia Konnig 52
3.  Kennedy Coughlan 62
4.  Mara Minnig 62
5.  Natasha Smith 65

Aaron Belcher's 76 good for runner-up at Allen East golf invite

Bluffton High School's boys' golf team opened the 2015 season in the Allen East Invitational on Aug. 11. Here's Bluffton's top three finishers.

Individual scores (each 18 holes)
1.  Aaron Belcher 76
2.  Tyler McLaughlin 100
3.  Jared Metzger 130
 

Aaron Belcher claimed runner up in the singles score with a final score of 76.

Benroth Bridge gets an fix up thanks to Misha Groman's Eagle Scout project

Bluffton Eagle Scout candidate Misha Groman is currently leading his Eagle Scout project at the Benroth Bridge located over Marsh Run near the Buckeye.

He has already had a few work sessions, including one eariler this week when he re-stained and sealed the bridge.

His next work session will be on Saturday. So far, much of the bridge has been power-washed. Graffiti has already been removed. 

In addition, the weeds have been pulled from the stones in the waterway between the Benroth Bridge and the red bridge north to the north.

Publication date is May 1959. The Icon will publish one article at a time. We’ve updated some current addresses so viewers may identify locations mentioned. The manuscript was given to the Icon by the Ropp Triplett family.
