Pirate track teams qualify 8 events in regional meet

Boys' team finished 3rd; girls' 12th at district

Bluffton HS boys’ track team was edged out of the runner-up spot by 1.5 points in the district meet on Saturday, but will take a large contingent to the regional meet this weekend at Heidelberg. While the boys’ team finished third, the girls  squad finished 12th.

The boys will compete in seven events and the girls in one event.

Pirates advancing to regionals are:
• 3200 – Jackson Steinmetz, 1st
• 300 hurdles – Xavier Dunifon, 1st
• 110 hurdles – Xavier Dunifon, 2nd
• 400 – Baylor Garmatter, 2nd
• Boys 4 by 100 – DeAndre Nassar, Eli Lemley, Jayden Mays, Andrew Heldman, 3rd
• Girls 4 by 200 – Olivia Setzer, Skyler Scoles, Kylie Monday, Kylie Stackhouse, 4th
• Boys 4 by 400 – Xavier Dunifon, Jonathan Schriner, Luke Young, Baylor Garmatter, 1st
• 4 by 800 – Simon Derstine, Jackson Steinmetz, Asher Antrim, Baylor Garmatter, 2nd
