Chiles-Laman outlines safety precautions and service guidelines

We will be conducting private family calling and services with option of complimentary webcasting or video recording of services

Message from Jon Kinn and staff at
Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services

These are definitely unprecedented times for all of us.

Chiles-Laman’s priority is the health and safety of our families, our community, and our staff.

We are still operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week making certain that those entrusted to our care and the families we serve are receiving the best possible services, regardless of the cause of death. Serving our communities with their loss is our privilege and honor.

We are monitoring and evaluating developments of the coronavirus, and trying to adhere to the ever-changing recommendations of Governor DeWine, the National Funeral Director Association, the Ohio Funeral Director Association, and the Center for Disease Control.

In accordance with Governor DeWine’s proposal, with the main focus being the prevention of spreading this illness to others, consequently, for the foreseeable future, we will be conducting private family calling and services with the option of complimentary webcasting or video recording of the services.

A larger public service may be held at a later date after the restriction on gatherings is lifted.

If you are a family member and you are not feeling well we ask that you please do not attend the visitation or services.

Please understand that this was a very difficult decision to make and we recognize the importance of visitations and services for those who are grieving, we will return to normal operations as soon as the CDC recommends that it is safe to do so.

For the general public we ask that you send families online condolences, cards, or floral tributes to let families know that your thoughts and prayers are with them.

We want all families to know that at all of our locations:
• We will increase infection control, disinfection, and cleaning according to CDC guidelines.

* All families are requested to assess their own health before coming to the funeral home, if you are not feeling well, please do not come.

* If you have experienced a loss and need to make funeral arrangements we can do so over the phone or by email if you prefer rather than coming in to the funeral home.

• Our employees will be practicing social distancing, good hand hygiene, and proper cough etiquette habits for the wellbeing of everyone and we ask you do the same.

• All staff will be screened before start of their shift for elevated temperatures.

Most of all, remember that during times of uncertainty it is important to rely upon one another and to come together as a community. Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to be a part of our community and will do all we can to be there for you throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you should have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Jon Kinn and staff at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton
