Bluffton's past comes alive on Zoom Thursday at 6

Listen as Gary Wetherill and Lauren Canaday talk about our Swiss Settlement

Want to hear some great stories about Bluffton's past?

Bluffton's Swiss Community Historical Society, with the assistance of Bluffton Public Library, goes digital Thursday.

Gary Wetherill, vice president of the society, and Lauren Canaday, public services coordinator of library, will discuss stories from the settlement and from the Bluffton area's history via a Zoom chat.

To join live via video chat to listen and ask questions, email Canaday at [email protected] and receive the Zoom link and instructions. The video will be recorded and posted on the library's website and YouTube channel for those unable to attend the live event.

"Gary Wetherill is a wealth of knowledge, and you can tell he enjoys sharing stories from this area's history," says Canaday. Viewers of all ages are welcome, but permission to record and upload publicly must be expressed by legal guardians of those under age 18.

Tours are not currently available at the Swiss Community Historical Society's Schumacher Homestead, but you can still watch video tours led by volunteer docents on the Society's YouTube channel, as well as to tune in on Thursday for this video chat.

Email [email protected] with your questions about this live collaboration.
