Bluffton Swim Club wins tri-meet and quad-meet

Opponents include Elida, Lima Senior, Fostoria, Toledo Whitmer

The Bluffton Swim Club open its season with two wins this month.

The  following student athletes competed for the Bluffton Swim Club; seniors Simon Derstine and Ellie Hoffman, junior Malia Lee, sophmores Landon Armstrong, Sam Derstine, Allison Diller, Nolan Hoffman, CJ McCall, Eric Nygaard and Riley Verb, and freshmen Ella Armstrong, Tyler Cupples, Jacob Lehman and Izzy Stechschulte. 

Landon Armstrong won all three of his events which included the boys 200 meter freestyle with a time of 2:18:75. 

Allison Diller won all four of her events which included the girls 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:17:57. 

Izzy Stechschulte won all four of her events which included the girls 200 meter individual medley with a time of 2:44:33. 

Riley Verb won all three of his events which included the boys 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:06:30. 

The overall team results showed that Bluffton finished with 114 total team points compared to 39 for Lima Senior, and Bluffton had 121 total team points compared to 19 for Toledo Whitmer. 

Dec. 9 meet with
Elida, Fostoria, Lima Senior

Bluffton participated in the quad meet with Elida High School, Fostoria High School and Lima Senior High School on  Dec. 9 at the Lima YMCA. 

The  following student athletes competed for the Bluffton Swim Club; seniors Olivia Barnes, Andrea Bourassa, Simon Derstine, Ellie Hoffman and Celia Smith, junior Malia Lee, sophmores Landon Armstrong, Sam Derstine, Allison Diller, Nolan Hoffman, CJ McCall, Eric Nygaard and Riley Verb, and freshmen Ella Armstrong, Tyler Cupples, Jacob Lehman and Izzy Stechschulte. 

Ella Armstrong finished with two second places and won two other events which included a victory in the girls 200 meter free relay with a time of 1:56:35. 

Landon Armstrong won all four of his events which included the boys 100 meter freestyle with a time of 59:97. 

Allison Diller won all four of her events which included the girls 200 meter individual medley with a time of 2:31:88. 

CJ McCall finished with two second places and two first places which included a victory in the boys 400 meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:20:02. 

Riley Verb won all four of his events which included the boys 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:08:38. 

The overall team results showed that Bluffton finished with 105 total team points compared to 55 for Lima Senior, Bluffton had 117 total team points compared to 29 for Fostoria, and Bluffton had 97.5 total team points compared to 81.5 for Elida. 

The Bluffton Swim Club is coached by Bob Verb, Jason Diller, Rachel Diller and Jeff Bowlus.
