Pirate boys soccer score late to tie Kenton

By Cort Reynolds

The visiting Bluffton boys soccer team tied Kenton 1-1 in a defensive non-league match Saturday evening.

Bluffton’s record moved to 2-5-2 overall with the draw. The Wildcats are now 5-2-2.

The match was scoreless for the first 73 minutes.

Pirate Theo Andreas then was fouled in the box and tallied the ensuing penalty kick with 6:30 remaining to play.

It looked like that goal might stand up as the difference. But Wildcat Micah Bowman drilled a well-placed free kick into the back of the net with 2:30 left to tie it up, and that is the way the score remained at the end.

Bluffton (1-0 NWC) hosts local rival Allen East (4-3-2, 1-0-1 NWC) Tuesday evening in a Northwest Conference battle.

The rivalry match is set for 7 p.m. on the pitch of Steinmetz Field.
