Goings named as next Superintendent of the Board of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities

At the December meeting of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the appointment of Tyson J. Goings as the next Superintendent of the Board was announced.

On January 1, 2024, Goings will assume the duties of Assistant Superintendent for a transition period with the current Superintendent, and then on July 1, 2024, he will become the board's 10th Superintendent in the 57 year history of the board.

Goings is currently employed at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Behavior Support Consultant. Goings had held several leadership positions through his many years of employment in Allen County. Through previous experiences he has served individuals with developmental disabilities and has a passion for this field. 

Goings is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He previously worked for Bluffton University, Lima City Schools, St. Rita's Medical Center and Starr Commonwealth.

Goings is a graduate of Liberty University, Bluffton University and Wayne Trace High School. He lives in Bluffton, Ohio, with his wife, Andrea and three children, Braylon, Ariana and Jayden.

Goings says of his appointment to the new role, "I appreciate the Board giving me the opportunity to serve as the Superintendent of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. I am excited and honored to work with our great employees to continue providing quality services for the people we serve in Allen County." Superintendent Schnipke says, "Tyson has been a great addition to our staff and already has gained the admiration of many. I look forward to the next six months and supporting him in any way I can."
