Senior Center announces cancellations

Pancake day on March 21 • Community meals on March 19 & April 2 • Bingo with Good Samaritan March 16 & April 20

The following activities at the Bluffton Senior Center have been canceled because of the COVID-19 virus concerns

• Pancake Day on March 21

• Community meals on March 19 and April 2

• Bingo with Good Samaritan on March 16 and April 20

"We hope to keep our doors open for those who are healthy for as long as possible, but we will continue to make decisions about programs on a daily basis," said Tonya Meyer, Center director.

The following is the policy the Center has put into place:

Plans underway for 53rd Festival of Wheels

Vehicle registration for this 53rd annual Bluffton Festival of Wheels is underway according to Dan Diller, festival director.

The show is sponsored by the Bluffton Lions Club.

This year’s festival is Friday, June 19, in downtown Bluffton. Registration is from 2 to 5 p.m. rain or shine.  Vehicle judging is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 7:30 p.m.

The show is open to antique cars, classic cars, trucks, tractors, golf carts, fire engines, motorcycles and Cushmans.

Registration fees by May 31 are $10 per vehicle. Registration thereafter is $12.

Chamber cancels Friday breakfast

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce announces that its Friday, March 13, chamber breakfast is cancelled, according to Paula Scott of the chamber.

"In response to coronavirus recommendations by Gov. DeWine, we have determined that this is a non-essential event," she said.

"Please continue to send us your announcements for our email and social media updates on Monday, March 16. Looking forward to seeing you at our next breakfast on April 10."

SR 103 bridge over the Interstate

Here's a close-up of the SR 103 bridge over I-75 near exit 142. The repair of sections of the bridge are part of the $21 million upgrade to the Interstate between Bluffton and Beaverdam starting this spring. Watch the Icon for updates and closure information.

BFR taking extra precautions

All classes continue except for water classes

In response to the COVID-19 developments, Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, is  taking extra precautions to protect the health of everyone who visits BFR.

"Since the beginning of the week we have stepped up our cleaning procedures throughout the building. We ask that you join us in this effort by wiping down each piece of equipment after use," said Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
