NSCAA Team Academic Awards Winners

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University was recently recognized by the NSCAA for outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year. The men's and women's soccer teams both received the NSCAA Team Academic Award, making Bluffton one of just 221 institutions to have both soccer teams honored.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Beaver volleyball team improved to 14-7 overall and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference as they traveled to the Weaner Center and swept the rival Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Defiance suffered its first HCAC loss, dropping to 5-10 and 1-1 in league play. Bluffton's sweep of Defiance puts them one match away from 900 program wins!

Defiance downs Men's Soccer 3-1

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team welcomed Defiance College to the Sears Complex for a 3:30 matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The two rivals combined for four tallies in the first 35 minutes and the Yellow Jackets made their 3-1 halftime edge stand up as Defiance improved to 4-5-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Heartland Conference. Bluffton dipped to 3-8 and 0-2 in the HCAC.

Women's Soccer falls to rival Yellow Jackets

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team made the short trip to rival Defiance College and came up on the short end of an 8-1 victory by the Yellow Jackets. Defiance improved to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton slipped to 0-7 and 0-2 in the HCAC.

University fall concert Oct. 16

Bluffton University will host a concert featuring its Camerata Singers, University Chorale and Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The performance, part of Homecoming weekend activities at Bluffton, is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships during intermission.

Legal assistant to share struggles of refugee families

Luz Varela, a 2015 Bluffton graduate, will present the forum “#ProtectRefugees: The Criminalization of Immigrants in the United States” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Varela is a legal assistant at the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) in San Antonio. RAICES is a nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families and refugees in Central and South Texas.
