Bluffton student discusses political campaign

Charles Miller, a Bluffton University student from Hamilton, Ohio, will discuss “Politics from the Inside, Looking Out” at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Oct. 11 in the reading room of Musselman Library. The event is free and open to the public. 

The senior majoring in business and studying communications, will discuss his experience as a campaign manager/field director for a politician’s campaign. Miller will use the experience to explore modern political culture and the nature of politics.

Juvenile court judge examines juvenile law and the Constitution

Judge Glenn Derryberry of Allen County juvenile court presented Bluffton’s annual Constitution Day Forum titled “Juveniles and the Law: A Puzzle.” In front of a packed audience on Sept. 20 in Yoder Recital Hall, Derryberry explained that he looks at constitutional law in the area of juvenile justice to be a large jigsaw puzzle.
 
“The puzzle is not finished and the puzzle continues to change,” said Derryberry. “Local courts every day are confronted with Constitutional details of great importance.”
 

Finlandia downs Men's Soccer 5-0

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team hosted Finlandia University for a rare Sunday contest at the Sears Complex on a warm September afternoon. The visiting Lions found the back of the net just over a minute into the contest en route to a convincing 5-0 victory. Bluffton slipped to 3-5 on the season, while Finlandia improved to 2-6 as they head back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Men's Soccer takes down OCU 2-1

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of Grant Stutzman (Sugarcreek/Hiland) tallies separated by less than three minutes proved to be all Bluffton would need as the Beavers defeated Ohio Christian 2-1 on a beautiful Saturday, Sept. 24. It marked the first home win by the men since Oct. 29, 2014 when Bluffton defeated Mount St. Joseph, 3-2, at the Sears Complex. The Beavers improved to 3-4 on the season, while OCU dropped to 2-6 overall.

HANOVER, Ind. - Less than 12 hours after matches finished on Friday night, teams were in the gym ready to go for day two of the annual HCAC/OAC Crossover. Bluffton was up in the first round of matches to face the Capital Crusaders who they just went five sets with last weekend in Wooster.
