Community meals Oct. 6 and Oct. 20

Two community meals are planned in October by the Bluffton Inner-Church Board. Both meals are free and open to the public.

On Thursday, Oct. 6, the meal is sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

On Thursday, Oct. 20, the meal is sponsored by St. John's United Church of Christ.

Donations are accepted and go to the Bluffton food pantry.

Rev. Daniel Hicks of City Mission, Findlay, guest speaker at Pleasant View, Mt. Cory UM

Rev. Daniel Hicks of the City Mission in Findlay, will speak at the Pleasant View and Mount Cory United Methodist Church's on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Pleasant View worship begins at 9:15 a.m. and is located at 300 Township road Rd 37, Bluffton. Mount Cory's worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and is located at 300 N. Main St. in Mount Cory.

A free-will offering will be received at both churches for the City Mission, according to Rev. Jerry Lewis, pastor of the congregations.

St. John's UCC holds "blessing of pets" on Oct. 1

St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 West College Ave., Bluffton, will hold a blessing pets in the parking lot of the church on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. until noon, according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

"As autumn arrives, people in various places may notice something odd - a procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and even horses, is led to churches for a special ceremony call the Blessing of Pets," she told The Icon.

St. John's beef and noodle dinner Oct. 7

St. John's United Church of Christ will serve their famous beef and noodle dinner at the church (223 West College Avenue, Bluffton) on Friday, Oct. 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

The cost is $7 and includes homegrown beef, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans and bacon, cole slaw, roll, homemade pie, tea, coffee or punch. Eat in, carry out, or delivery can be made by calling 419-358-5641 or 419-358-0479.

Stewardship University offered at First Mennonite Nov. 19

On Saturday, Nov. 19, Stewardship University will be held at First Mennonite Church at 101 S. Jackson St. in Bluffton. Open to the public, this educational event from Everence, in partnership with First Mennonite, helps people nurture and cultivate their God-given gifts.

Mt. Cory United Methodist has Community Coffee Saturday on Oct. 1

The Mount Cory United Methodist Church is sponsoring a "Community Coffee" Saturday, Oct. 1, from 7 to 11 a.m., according to Rev. Jerry Lewis, pastor.

The community coffee event will take place in the Bethel Family Life Center, 201 W Washington St., Mount Cory.

"Come and Have a cup of coffee and a donut on us," said Rev. Lewis.
