Native American flutist to perform April 13

The public is invited to hear Native American flute music at the Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m. on the third floor of the Bluffton Town Hall. Performer Janice Trytten (Sunflower) is a Native flute player and as a professional horn player in the Cincinnati area.

Workshop focus about health care in retirement

RSVP to attend this Sept. 29 event

There is a lot of talk about saving enough money by the time of retirement to continue the lifestyle you know.

What is discussed far less is the need for health care in retirement and the costs that come with it. First National Bank will host a free Health Care Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 29. The event will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1050 Interstate Drive, Findlay from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Francis-Eikenbary wedding announcement

Chase Francis and Brett Eikenbary, both of Bluffton, were married on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in Bluffton. Pastor David Plant officiated. The couple celebrated with family and friends in Findlay later that day.

The bride is the daughter of Bob and Vicky Francis of Rawson. She works for Governor John Kasich. The groom is the son of Larry and Valerie EIkenbary of Bluffton. He works for Grob Systems, Inc.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Eikenbarys reside in Bluffton.

Dan and Edna Dalke observe 71st wedding anniversary

Dan and Edna Dalke, Inman, Kan., formerly of Bluffton, will celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary on Jan. 22. Rev. Dalke is a former pastor of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton.

Rev. Dalke provided the following information about the couple's wedding:

"On Jan. 22, one day after the great blizzard of 1943 only one half of the invited and expected guests were able to assemble at the country church for the wedding of Edna Elizabeth Franz and Dan U. Dalke. The church was (still is) 20 miles from the nearest town.

The Bluffton High School class of 1970 girls will be getting together Thursday, Feb 6, at Tu Pueblo Mexican Restaurant in Bluffton at 6 p.m.

Gerald and Helen Brooks observe 60th wedding anniversary

Gerald (Jerry) and Helen Brooks will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 25, with their children Sue (Arman) Habegger of Pandora, George (Altha) Brooks of Van Wert, Jim Brooks and Chris Orton of Bluffton, and Carole (Bruce) Okuley of Bluffton.

Gerald and Helen have five grandchildren. Gerald is retired from Ex-Cell-O / Pure Pak and continues to farm. Helen is a retired registered nurse. The couple was married on Aug,
14, 1953, in Morehead City, North Carolina.

Robert and Treva Stratton celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Robert and Treva Stratton of 999 E. Lincoln Highway, Bluffton, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 9, 2013.

Robert and the former Treva M. Althaus were married Aug. 9, 1953 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church by the Reverend Howard T. Landes.

They are the parents of three children, Brett (Diane) Stratton, Jay (Sherry) Stratton and Sue (Robert) Fett, all of Bluffton. They have nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A family dinner celebration is being planned at a later date.

Several non-profit organizations benefit from Lima Rotary Foundation grants

The Lima Rotary Foundation will present its quarterly grants to eight non-profit agencies on Monday, Aug. 5 at noon during the weekly Rotary Club meeting, held at the City Club, 144 S. Main St.

The Lima Symphony Orchestra will receive $864 to provide tickets for Marimor students and their families; $1,000 to sponsor the Young People’s Concert; and $1,500 to fund the KidStuff Program at the Lima Public Library. 

Equestrian Therapy Program will receive $1,000 to assist with programming, including a new program for at-risk students.

Bluffton University volleyball coach Aug. 6 Lions Club speaker

Steve Yarnelle, Bluffton University volleyball coach, is the speaker at the Tuesday, Aug. 6, Bluffton Lions Club meeting. The meeting is at noon in the Patio Room of Maple Crest.
