Kewpee high school art show opens Feb. 28

ArtSpace/Lima will host the 26th Annual Kewpee High School Art Invitational from February 28 - April 12. Thanks to the continued support of Harry Shutt and the Kewpee Restaurants, this exhibition will once again highlight student artists from area high schools, and will include works in nine categories: sculpture, photography, ceramics, painting, digital media, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, and drawing.

Artists from 20 area high schools will be exhibiting their work. Jurors selected 82 pieces for the show from the 358 works entered.

Lots of events on March Lions Club calendar

The Bluffton Lions Club observed their 80th annual charter night on Feb. 18. On Feb. 4, Rick Skillier, Bluffton police chief, was the club's featured speaker. The club has several events planned in March.

Lone Raven to present Celtic, world music on university artist series

Tickets are available for the next performance in the Bluffton University Artist Series. The band Lone Raven will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, in Yoder Recital Hall.

Jon Burden bowls a 289 at Southgate Lanes

Jon Burden bowled a 289 game at Southgate Lanes on Feb. 21 for the men's high game of the week. Meanwhile, Pam Baker's 225 was the women's high game. For the top high scores of the week open the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Mustard Seed Cafe offers New Orleans-style Mardi Gras dinner features

Mustard Seed Café,  562 N. Main Street, Bluffton, will have New Orleans-style Mardi Gras dinner features on Feb. 28 and March 1, 5:00-8:00 p.m.  In addition to the full menu which includes 7 appetizers, 8 main course items, soups, salads and house-baked desserts, the café will offer Creole Shrimp & Grits and Jambalaya.

Kings Cake is one of the dessert offerings.  Choose your piece of cake from the tray and, if you find the toy, you will receive a gift certificate.

Beer and beer cocktails are available, including a special Mardi Gras Cocktail.
