Veterans attend Four Chaplain Sunday service

Area veterans attended Four Chaplain Sunday on Feb. 2  at St. John's United Church of Christ.

Local musicians perform Sunday in debut concert

The band Cloud of Witnesses will perform at 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16, at First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton.

The concert is free and open to the public. 

Wendy Chappell-Dick and Phil Gratz, perform in the duo's debut concert. They will present a blend of folk, rock, country, and pop.

They will be joined by bassist Chris Gott and multi-instrumentalist Lucas Harnish.

Chappell-Dick said, "Cloud of Witnesses specializes in guitar-driven songs with meaningful lyrics that have stood the test of time."

A Repair Clinic with Transition Bluffton to be held at Bluffton Public Library

Join us for a free repair clinic on Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. led by Transition Bluffton!

Everyone is welcome. Bring in your small household appliances, electronics, clothes, bikes, etc., and skilled volunteers with Transition Bluffton will assist you with troubleshooting, fixing, or mending items, if able.

No registration is necessary, and the clinic will take place in the library's lower level meeting room. Participants may come any time during the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. window.

3 Democrat candidates for Congress will debate in Bluffton

Three Democratic candidates are vying for the chance to represent Allen County – and Ohio's Fourth Congressional District – in Congress. 

In Ohio’s primary on March 17, Democratic voters will choose one of these candidates to run for the seat currently held by Jim Jordan in the U.S. House. 

Saturday, Feb 15, the public is invited to hear what these candidates have to say, in an open forum from 7-9 p.m. at the Bluffton town hall third floor, 154 N. Main St. 

The forum will include opening and closing statements as well as the chance for rebuttals.

Snow shoveling tips - it doesn't have to cause back pain

Snow shoveling is one of those things that no one likes to do, but most of us have to do, living in northwest Ohio,” says Wanda Dean, MSPT of Northwest Physical Therapy.

“What often accompanies this chore is the aching back and the heating pad, making the rest of your day miserable.”  Dean said, “There are some things we can all do to prevent injury and make snow shoveling a chore that doesn’t have to cause pain.”

Pirates beat Falcons in low-scoring battle

Boys seeded 2nd at sectionals

MT. BLANCHARD - Visiting Bluffton beat Riverdale 38-33 in a defensive non-conference boys basketball bout Saturday night.

The Pirates improved to 16-4 with the deliberate road win. Meanwhile, Riverdale fell to 14-6 with the defeat.

Bluffton led 10-9 after the first period, and was on top 17-13 at intermission in the low-scoring affair. The Pirates managed to outscore the Falcons 21-20 after halftime to hold on for the win.
