Letter: Don't panic if you've not yet received your census form

How is the census sent out? Areas are divided into sections and each section is sent the census form at a different time. In Bluffton there are several different sections and not all sections have received the form.

It you haven't received it, don't panic. It should be coming. Please complete and send back as soon as possible.

Letter: Could you add a genealogy section to The Icon?

First, I want to congratulate you on a great website! I was excited when I found it as I was looking for information on an old school in Allen County - Diller School.

I don't think you know me. I lived in Pandora for 11 years on the family homestead. We bought the farm on which my mother was born from my Uncle Clifton Neuenschwander. It's located on Road R between Road 3 and Road 4.

Return your U.S. Census form asap!

By now many citizens have received their census form. As you can see, it is much shorter than before. Only 10 questions! The questions don't ask about income or citizenship. They just want to know how many people live in your home, name, gender, and race.

It's simple and it's easy. The sooner you fill it out and return it, the easier it is for you. It won't get lost and you won't get a home visit.

Letter: Census defines who we are as a nation

In 2010, the U.S. Census will define who we are as a nation. Taken every 10 years, the census affects political representation and directs the allocation of billions of dollars in government funding.

Faith based organizations are dedicated to serving the best interest of the community. Many community members look to their faith based leaders as trusted sources of information.

Letters: A word about flood control

Just a comment about cleaning the Little Riley Creek or any other flood control measures. Water has no problem getting into town or through town. The problem is getting water out of town. The bridge on Bentley Road north of town is not capable of allowing water out of town.

The bridge was not constructed properly to let a 50-year flood out of town much less a 100-year flood.

If you notice, water has to go north of the bridge to cross the Bentley. I was told by the regional planning commissioner water should go over the bridge.
