Public meetings for the Village of Bluffton for Sept.

Several committee meetings are on the Bluffton council schedule the upcoming month. Those follow:

  • Parks & Rec Committee – Thursday, Aug. 29 at noon
  • Utilities Committee – Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.
  • Streets, Alleys & Sidewalks Committee – Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Pathway Board – Thursday, Sept. 5 at Noon
  • Council Meeting – Monday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m.

I-75 and US 30 work will affect local traffic patterns

Between Beaverdam and Lima

Ohio Department of Transportation issued the following work projects for next week that affect local traffic patterns.

Interstate 75 between the Stewart Road overpass and Napoleon Road, between the city of Lima and the village of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane in both directions for a pavement resurfacing project.

The project also includes repairs on the ramps at the Bluelick Road interchange and on the bridges over Sugar Creek.

ONU English Department invites high school senior poems

Winner receives $16,000 toward college tuition

The English Department at Ohio Northern University invites submissions to the ONU Single Poem Broadside contest, according to Dr. Jennifer Moore, associate professor of English at ONU.

The contest is open to all current high school seniors. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 1, 2019, and the winner will be notified by Nov. 15.

This scholarship opportunity provides $16,000 toward a student tuition at Ohio Northern University.

A full page photo by Jamie Nygaard starts listings for Northwest Ohio in the new 2019-2020 FALL/WINTER Ohio Tourism calendar publication.

Print and digital editions are available at https://ohio.org/order-guide/. The photo featuring Mitch Kingsley of the Bluffton Lions Club is on page 5 and Bluffton's listing is on page 11 (click "view calendar of events").

And, speaking of the Blaze, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will soon promote holiday events and special offers by chamber members.
