There’s a first time for everything, and this school year is packed with firsts.
The traditional meet your elementary teacher day is now a virtual event. Tim Closson, elementary principal, told The Icon, “Our teachers may not be able to meet you until school starts, but they still want you to meet them.”
So, The Icon copied the videos from the school website, and now the entire community can share in the event. Teachers are listed below with a link to a short video.

Earlier this month the Farmers and Merchants Picnic committee held a 50/50 raffle. Here are the winners:

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 celebrated its 100th anniversary on Aug. 10. It was on that date the the Bluffton post received its charter in 1920.
The American Legion was born on March 15, 1919, in Paris from a gathering of veterans who believed that a nation worth defending during war time, is a nation worth strengthening, honoring and serving for as long as a veteran lives.
The Bluffton legion's petition to join the American Legion dated, March 1, 1920, included signers who were all veterans of World War I.
Forest Gudakunst was born to Lane and Emily Gudakunst, formerly of Bluffton and now of Troy, Ohio. Forest was born on Aug. 4, 2020 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.
Long-time Ada resident, Alice Bucher, now living at Vancrest of Ada, celebrated her 104th birthday on Aug. 14.
Mrs. Bucher was an employee at Triplett Corp., Bluffton, for 22 years, and may be the oldest living Triplett retiree.
She and her husband, Dale, had three children, two boys and one girl. Dale was the Ada scoutmaster for many years and he also served on several community boards and organizations in Ada. He died in 1999.
