Findlay Post investigating life threatening crash in Union Township 

UNION TOWNSHIP__The Findlay Patrol Post was investigating a non-injury crash on Interstate 75 southbound near mile post 148 at around 0602 hours on February 24. D & D Towing was stopped in the left lane on the northbound side of Interstate 75 to tow a vehicle from the scene with its flashing lights on.

A 2024 Honda CRV, driven by 69-year-old, John Scaccia from Dayton Ohio, was traveling northbound on Interstate 75 in the left lane. The 2024 Honda CRV  struck the 2013 Ram tow truck in the rear, before coming to rest and caught on fire shortly  after. The driver and right front passenger of the Honda were removed from the vehicle and taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Weekend Doctor: Seasonal depression

It is a well-studied but often-forgotten phenomenon that each year during the winter months, up to 10 million Americans will experience symptoms of depression. As its name implies, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a mood disturbance thought to be caused by the effect of shorter days and decreasing amounts of sunlight on the brain.

Pirate boys basketball falls to late Panther rally

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys basketball team led for the first three quarters, but got outscored 20-8 in the final period to lose 70-66 to Paulding in their non-conference regular season finale Friday, February 23.

HARDIN COUNTY__The Conservation Tillage & Technology Conference (CTC) will be held in-person on March 12-13 at Ohio Northern University in Ada.

The first day of this year’s conference will feature Alex Harrell, Soybean Yield Champion from southwest Georgia with a yield of 206 bushels per acre. His presentation has been made possible by sponsor Brandt Professional Agriculture.

Shawn Conley, Extension Soybean Specialist, University of Wisconsin, will return and be paired with Alex Harrell and Laura Lindsey, OSU Extension, during the Agronomic Crop Management session after lunch, Tuesday. Shawn Conley is always one of the conference’s most popular speakers.
