One man killed in two-car accident in Ada on Thursday

FROM ADA ICON - A two-car accident Thursday evening (July 9) in Ada resulted in three persons hospitalized. One of the three died as a result of wounds that he appeared to suffer as a result of the accident.

The official Ada police statement follows:

On Thursday, July 9, at 6:12 p.m. officers of the Ada Police Department were dispatched to the scene of an injury accident on South Johnson Street and East Lehr Avenue.

Also responding were Ada-Liberty Township fire, Ada-Liberty EMS and Alger EMS.

Kato still on medical leave, but is improving daily

Bluffton police K9 suffers from a collapsed lung

And, now for some good news.

Kato, Bluffton police department’s K9, is chomping at the bit to return to work, according to Tyler Hochstetler, member of the department and his handler.

Currently on sick leave, the dog showed signs of an illness in March.

“I took him to the vet because of his lethargic state,” Hochstetler wrote in a letter to Bluffton council on March 27. “ The physician's exam, blood work and X-ray concluded that Kato is suffering from a pneumothorax (collapsed lung).

This week, Hochstetler told the Icon that Kato is doing well.

April 3
Officers arrested a Bluffton resident for OVI following a complaint of the subject being asleep behind the wheel in a drive thru of a State Route 103 business. The defendant was also charged with driving under suspension and endangering children. The cases are pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

April 4
Officers received a theft complaint from a Jefferson Street resident.

Several arrested for driving under suspension

Lima resident arrested on outstanding warrant

The February Bluffton police log follows:

February 3
Officers arrested a Lima resident for driving under suspension, plates belonging to another vehicle, and expired registration following a traffic stop in the in the area of Interstate 75 at mile marker 140. The cases are pending in Lima Municipal Court.

Arlington barn fire on Saturday

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter responded to a barn fire on Township Road 184 in Arlington on Saturday afternoon. 

The Red Cross provided assistance for the immediate needs of one resident of an apartment in the barn, such as temporary lodging, food and clothing. Red Cross volunteers also provided canteen and relief services for first responders on the scene.
