School board meeting moved to July 17

July's Bluffton school board meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, July 15, is rescheduled for 7:30 p.m., Wednesdy, July 17, according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent. The meeting will take place in the Bluffton Elementary Media Center.

AC and village get in the street painting act this month

Street painting in Bluffton - this time by the Allen County Enginineer's Office takes place next week, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator.

Mehaffie will update Bluffton council on Monday evening on the Engineer's Office plan to perform the double-yellow striping on village roads, weather permitting.

The village service department will also preparing to complete its annual street striping. The village handes cross walks, parking spots and stop bars.

Six new teachers hired during Monday's school board meeting

Six new teachers were hired for the 2013-2014 Bluffton school year during Monday’s Bluffton school board session.

Smaller (35 gallon) refuse and recycling totes available from village

As the new refuse and recycling rules have taken affect, several Bluffton customers have asked the village if smaller capacity garbage totes are an option.

According to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, Republic Services has acquired several 35-gallon totes. He said that the village is accepting requests for the small totes as they come in and are coordinating delivery for those smaller totes.

Light agenda for Monday's Bluffton council session

Bluffton recycling and refuse collection procedure changes on June 1

On June 1 major changes occur in Bluffton’s recycling and refuse pick up procedure. One of the most noticeable changes is that new recycling and refuse carts are being delivered to residents.

The new system enables customers to now recycle glass and more plastic (numbers 1 to 7). Previously glass was not accepted and pastic was limited.
