Bluffton school board reorganization and regular January meeting is at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11, with several beginning-of-the-year actions on the agenda.
These include:
• Election of officers
• Several standing authorizations
• Establishing 2021 meeting dates
• Appointing representatives to several organizations
• Contracts, assignments
• Agreements with several programs and councils

Bluffton council closed 2020 with several end-of-year emergency pieces of legislation in its Dec. 28 session.
A special meeting was called for 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, to deal with contracts. The meeting will take place via Zoom. Contact Jesse Blackburn, village administrator at [email protected] for a Zoom invitation.
On Dec. 28, council decided to hold all January and February meetings via Zoom. The Icon will keep viewers updated on those dates and invitations to participate prior to each meeting.
To consider request for temporary vestibule structure at 133 N. Main

A special council meeting will take place to consider a request for a license to install a temporary vestibule structure onto the sidewalk at Luke's, 133 N. Main St.

Council recognizes Dan Bowden upon his year-end retirement

Bids opened for the Jefferson Street Phase II project next summer are encouraging, Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, informed Bluffton council members on Monday.
“The bids were opened on Dec. 3 and range from $838,539 to just over $1 million,” said Blackburn.
He added that the village engineering firm, Choice One, has provided the village with a bid review and the project should be awarded at the next council meeting.

Bluffton school board prepares for the end of 2020 as it meets one final time this year. The agenda is attached at the bottom of this story.
The board will act on the purchase of a new 84-passenager school bus at a cost of $92,890, from Cardinal Bus Sales and Service. The purchase is through a joint purchasing program with The Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council.
The board will act to renew a seven-year term on the Bluffton-Richland Public Library board for Emily VonStein, covering January 2021 to December 2027.
