Friday morning chamber meetings resume on Zoom

Featuring Blanchard River Watershed Partnership and West Central Ohio Land Conservancy

It’s September and that means the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast meetings are on the calendar.

The first meeting of the new season is Friday morning. It features the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership and West Central Ohio Land Conservancy, according to Paula Scott, CEO of the chamber.

Ken Mauer (wcolc.org) and Lauren Sandhu (blanchardriver.org) are the featured. They will discuss a rescheduled water and land tour.

Need a place to park your bike on Main Street? No problem

Bike racks in four downtown locations will handle 17 bikes

As Bluffton becomes a more friendly bicycle village, more incentives become available to encourage bike use here.

The most recent is the creation of 17 bicycle parking spaces to be installed this fall along the Main Street business district.

The bike racks come as a result of a $5,000 grant from the Allen County Health Department’s "Creating Healthy Communities.”

Those 17 parking spaces are planned for:
• Town hall (3 spaces)
• Presbyterian alley (4)
• Edward Jones alley on North Main (5)
• Book ReViews alley (5)

Governor DeWine announced details for Ohio's forthcoming case reporting order for K-12 schools

Governor DeWine announced details for Ohio's forthcoming case reporting order for K-12 schools.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, parents or guardians and school staff should notify their school within 24 hours of receiving a positive test or a clinical diagnosis.

Within 24 hours after receiving that notification, the school should notify other parents and guardians about that case in writing, providing as much information as possible without releasing protected health information.

The school must also notify their local health department within 24 hours.

Absentee ballot request forms in the mail

Secretary of State encourages voters choosing to go absentee to send request ASAP

Earlier this summer, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced every registered Ohio voter would receive an absentee ballot request form in the mail. Those request forms are arriving in mailboxes this week – one week ahead of schedule.

Ohioans who want to vote by absentee ballot must send their request form back to their county board of elections in order to receive an absentee ballot.
