BHS boys basketball trounces McComb

The Bluffton High School boys basketball team raced to a huge halftime lead and trounced visiting McComb 66-32 in a non-league game Saturday night, December 10.

The Pirates led 16-4 after the first period, and the hosts ballooned the margin to 38-10 at halftime. Bluffton drained seven of their 10 trifectas in the first half.

A 20-8 third period stretched the Bluffton cushion to 40 points heading to the final stanza.

BHS girls basketball falls at Delphos

DELPHOS--The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball squad lost 46-29 to league co-favorite Delphos Jefferson in the tip-off to their Northwest Conference schedule Thursday evening, December 8.

The Pirate girls dropped to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with their second loss in a row. 

Meanwhile, the Wildcat girls improved to 4-0 and 2-0 in the NWC with the win.

The Pirates led 7-4 after a low-scoring first period. But DJ took control with an 18-8 second quarter to grab a 22-15 lead at halftime.

The defending Northwest Conference champion Bluffton High School boys basketball team rallied in the second half to defeat visiting Delphos Jefferson 49-42 in the league opener Friday night, December 9.

The Pirates led 13-11 after the first period, but they trailed 24-21 at halftime. 

The Pirates regained the lead with a defensive 10-4 third quarter to go in front 31-28 heading to the final stanza.

39 Beaver athletes among Heartland Academic All-HCAC honorees

CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) has announced the Fall honorees for Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC.  Academic All-Conference selections have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA and are varsity athletes. 

The cumulative GPA is the student-athletes GPA at the end of the semester preceding the end of the fall season. The student-athlete must have completed the equivalent of a full academic year and must be a full-time enrolled student at the institution to be eligible for the Academic All-Conference award.

Bluffton Soccer Club spring registration is open

Spring 2023 registration for the Bluffton Soccer Club is open.

Organizers emphasize, "Registration will close January 31 and we will not be able to accept late registrations."

The club includes teams for the following groups:

U8 Girls

U8 Coed

U10 Girls

U10 Coed

U12 Girls

U12 Coed

U15 Coed

The club coordinates instruction, training and education of players, coaches and referees.

Winter baseball camp hosted by Beavers on Jan. 15

Bluffton University is hosting a Winter Camp to help high school baseball players prepare for their upcoming seasons.

Campers will get individualized attention while working directly with the Bluffton University Baseball staff and players. Low player-to-coach ratios, a variety of drills designed to improve specific skills, and an abundance of repetitions in a positive and supportive environment allow all campers to get value from their investment.
