SR 103 northbound I-75 entrance ramp closes on Thursday

Interstate 75 northbound entrance ramp at state Route 103, Bluffton, will close on Thursday, Oct. 17, for approximately one day for maintenance.  Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 235 and back to Interstate 75.

Bluffton Golf Club host to HCAC women's championship

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was crowned the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women’s Golf Champions on Sunday. The meet took place at the Bluffton Golf Club.

This is the first time the Fightin’ Engineers have won the championship, punching their ticket to the 2020 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship. 

Rose-Hulman was dominant in claiming the title in the two-day championship, turning in a team score of 660, 39 strokes ahead of the nearest competition.

Openings available in this weekend's cemetery history walks

There are still openings available in each of the four Maple Grove Cemetery history walks at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20, sponsored by the Bluffton Icon. These free non-scary walks accept donations going to the Bluffton Public Library.

Each walk is limited to 12 persons and each walk covers the same material.

Here’s the Bluffton University sports round up for this past weekend.

Men’s soccer
The Bluffton University men's soccer team traveled to Franklin College on Saturday, Oct. 12, for an evening Heartland Conference matchup under the lights. The Beavers dropped a 3-0 decision to the Grizzlies. Bluffton fell to 5-8 (0-3 HCAC) while Franklin improved to 4-10 (1-2 HCAC).

Keynote speaker of high school business competition

High school students are invited to compete for $6,000 in scholarships and prizes during the Bluffton University Business Competition on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

During the 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. event, students will interact with business majors and professors, explore future career paths in business and hear from Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber, who is serving as the keynote speaker. During the competition portion of the day, students will respond to a business case that will encourage them to think of the many aspects of contemporary business issues.

Tickets on sale for Kiwanis spaghetti dinner

This year’s event is Oct. 24

FROM ADA ICON - The Ada Kiwanis Club will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Ada High School cafeteria, 725 West North Ave.

Club members will serve Peter Previte's homemade spaghetti, salad, bread sticks and drinks. 

One may eat-in or carry-out.

Advance sale tickets are $7 each, with children under 10 free. Tickets at the door will be $8. Advance sale tickets are available at the following locations in Ada:
