March 22 Pandora UMC chicken barbecue carryout only

The chicken barbecue dinner at the Pandora United Methodist Church will move forward as carry-out only.

It is Sunday, March 22, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church,108 E. Washington St. (SR 12) in Pandora. Tickets are $9 per person (carry-out).  This includes “Val Cake” for dessert. For ticket information, call 419.384.3782

Twisted Whisk Cafe issues the following details about its cafe:

In attempt to keep our employees and our guests safe and healthy, we are making the following adjustments:

* We are closing our self-serve coffee bar. Drip coffee will still be available- our friendly staff will be more than happy to get your coffee for you and add any cream or sugar to it.

* We will not allow anyone to bring in their own mugs or cups to use for drip coffee, lattes, or any other beverages.

A video, now on the Icon, created by two Bluffton residents helps answer that question.

Created by Ross Kauffman, an epidemiologist and public health professor at Ohio Northern University, and Tobias S. Buckell, the video explains how COVID-19 is different from a flu, and why medical experts are extremely worried.

Bluffton runner named NCAA D III all-region

Sophomore Brandon James  (Waynesfield/ Waynesfield-Goshen) capped off his 2020 Indoor Track and Field season by being named NCAA Division III All-Region on Monday, March 9. To secure all-region honors, an athlete must be in the top five in the region for his or her event.

James finished fifth in the Great Lakes Region in the heptathlon with a score of 4,292. He put up that score at the All-Ohio meet where he was victorious while establishing a new school record in the process. James had lifetime bests in six out of the seven heptathlon events at the All-Ohio competition.

No, Ohio's primary will not take place on Tuesday

As of 11 p.m., Monday, March 16, the Ohio Department of Health has closed polling locations and the March 17 primary election will not take place today.

Here comes the band

Tim Mattis, Findlay City Schools director of bands, and Bluffton College 1984 grad, just happened to be at Walt Disney World last week, and along comes the Bluffton High School marching band. Tim says: "I am working an event at Walt Disney World and on my afternoon off I was thrilled to see the Pirate marching band in performance. What a thrill to hear thousands of people cheering for them. Congratulations to all for representing your school, community, and state so wonderfully."
