NFL flag football registration underway at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting registrations for spring flag football.  Games are available for co-ed youth ages 7 to 8 and 9 to 11.
 
Games are scheduled for Saturdays from March 28 through May 7. The cost is $50 for BFR members and $60 for non-members. Registration deadline is March 14.
 
Registration is open to players and coaches. Call BFR at 419-358-4150 or [email protected] for details on registering. Each registered player receives a flag and an NLF jersey.

Two youth basketball tournaments at BFR this winter

Two youth basketball tournaments are slated at Bluffton Family Recreation this winter, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

A fourth grade girls’ tournament is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28. It will involve 10 teams and three games are guaranteed to each team. Games will be at BFR. Cost is $125 per team.

A fourth grade boys’ tournament is Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6 It is a double-elimination tournament with a limit of six teams. Games will be at BFR. Cost is $125 per team.

Teams and partners now signing up to participate in Bluffton's Summer Olympics

If you think the summer Olympic games take place in Rio, you are partially correct. Bluffton will also host an Olympics of its own – and you can participate. 
 
Bluffton Family Recreation in cooperation with the Village of Bluffton and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a one-day Bluffton Community Olympics on Saturday, July 30, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
 
The event is still a work in progress, but here are some of the highlights:
 
• Proceeds from the Olympics will benefit the BFR’s new turf and equipment fund.
 

What did you learn today?

There's lots of learning going on at Bluffton Child Development Center. Let's start with hand-eye coordination and go all the way to learning to work with others. The Icon stopped into the Center recently and found this housing project underway.

SHANNON Service Club and Senior Center launch 2016 garage sale season

S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center launch the 2016 Bluffton garage sale season at the end of February. There's even a chicken barbecue tossed in. Here are the details:

It's official at Studio Silhouette

Rachel Davis gets ready to cut the ribbon to officially open Studio Silhouette, at 103 N. Main St. To her right is Karen Fredritz one of the building's owner and owner of Bluffton Barbers also located in the building. To Karen's immediate right is Ryan Brauen of Wessler Engineering, also a tenant in the building. Several family members and representatives from the Bluffton chamber and Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs were also on hand Friday.
