Virtual movie showing and discussion June 16

Transition Bluffton program via Zoom - The Secret of Change

The public is invited to join with Transition Bluffton in a Zoom showing of the documentary “The Secret of Change.” 

The film visits a number of Transition groups in the UK, Canada, and the US, highlighting some of their activities, successes and challenges.

Following the movie there will be an opportunity for discussion and sharing of ideas for possible activities here in Bluffton.

We will be watching together using the “Zoom” virtual meeting format, each participant from home, using their own device.

If you’ve graduated from college this spring, please send us your email.

We want to talk about your degree, your college experience, your future plans, your growing up in Bluffton experience, your favorite movie, the Bluffton teacher who inspired your, the first time you tee-peed your friend’s yard.

Swiss Homestead events on hold in June

Member activity goes online

The Swiss Community Historical Society has put June events on hold including Saturday open houses at the Schumacher Homestead and the annual Swiss Day potluck and program.

Currently, society members and local history buffs are sharing photos and genealogy tips via facebook.com/SwissCommunityHistoricalSociety.

Recent posts include local mementos, family heirlooms, photographs, and maintenance work on the bank barn.

No National Night Out or fireworks in Bluffton this summer.

A joint announcement concerning both events follows by the Bluffton police, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and Pandora police: 

“Many people have been asking about the status of National Night Out for this summer and we have been working diligently to see if this is an event that we will be able to host for the community,” said Matt Oglesbee, Bluffton police department lieutenant.

Harmon Field parking lot on East College Avenue served as a collection point as Republic recycling and trash bins were collected from residents. New bins, from Bluffton's new hauler, Rumpke, are being put into place now.

Real estate auction on June 27

Siefker Real Estate and Auction. Co., Ottawa, will hold a public auction at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 27, on site at 698 U.S. Route 224, McComb. An open house is from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 24.
