Remembering couples at the nursing home

Columnist Bill Herr taught high school mathematics and science for 32 years before serving as a volunteer and then as a staff chaplain at two nursing homes.

The love between married couples is powerful, and as chaplain I witnessed it among couples that lived in the nursing home. Here are several examples.

Learn about dahlias at Garden Club meeting

The Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area are hosting a May 7 program on dahlias with Linda Finsel, a Hancock County Master Gardener volunteer. She will be presenting information on dahlias: the different types and how to plant, grow, harvest and store.

May 6-19, Lions counting traffic on Bluffton's 11 pathways

Bluffton Lions Club members and friends will be counting pathway traffic on Bluffton's 11 segments of bike and pedestiran for the two weeks starting May 6.

Activate Allen County has advised organizers that these semi-annual counts are helpful in obtaining grants for new Pathways. Signs will be posted showing that the Lions Pathway Count is taking place.

Get ready for a night of music, as the vocal ensemble "4 Guys and a Gal" from Bluffton High School prepares to take their final bow in a 7:00 p.m. concert on May 18 on the Bluffton Middle School stage. 

Join five students for an unforgettable evening as they showcases the culmination of their high school journey through a selection of songs that celebrate friendship, love and the joy of music. Their repertoire includes timeless classics, barbershop, do-wop and sacred hymns.

Dorothy Pauline (Sutter) Cherry worked for First National Bank

Dorothy Pauline (Sutter) Cherry, 95, of rural Pandora, Ohio left this earth May 1, 2024 at her home.  Born February 5, 1929 in Genoa, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer and Lenora (Blodget) Sutter.
