Craig von Stein named VP/business banking officer at CNB

Citizens National Bank has named Craig von Stein as VP/business banking officer for its Bluffton office. 

In this position he is responsible for establishing new commercial and agricultural banking relationships for CNB, as well as analyzing current customer portfolios on a regular basis.

von Stein attended Cory-Rawson High School and is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Agri-Business and Applied Economics. He spent several years in sales at a farm equipment dealership in Ottawa and Bowling Green.

Registration for library fall Storytime starts Sept. 1

Registration for Fall Storytime opens on Sept. 1 at the Bluffton Public Library.

Visit the library or call 419-358-5016 to register your 3-5 year old child. After registration, sessions begin on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. (starting Sept. 12) or Tuesdays at 10 a.m. (starting Sept. 13).

Pandora High School 1910

It was 1910.

William Howard Taft from Ohio was the U.S. president. Women did not yet have the right to vote. The Philadelphia A's defeated the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. Thomas Edison introduced his kinetosphone, which made talkies a reality. Halley's comet is observed photographically for the first time.

Here is a photograph taken by R.E. Basinger of the Pandora High School that year. Sorry to say we have no IDs of students, but if your family has a 100-plus year history in Pandora and if you examine this photo closely you may recognize a great-great grandparent.

School starts on Monday - watch for kids crossing the street - especially at Main and College

The Bluffton school year starts on Monday. It's an important time to remind drivers of pedestrian safety at Main Street and College Avenue.

Ohio law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.

"I'll be there with my best sign-spinning moves to encourage drivers to share the road," Paula Scott told the Icon.
