Virtual BINGO coming to BFR

Fundraiser on Zoom Friday evening, May 22

Bluffton Family Recreation invites the community to sign up for virtual Bingo on Zoom later this month, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

This is a fundraising event and a chance to win kid-friendly and adult-friendly prizes. Specific prizes will be announced soon.

Quack...quack...quack...quack

Under the watchful eye of mother, nearly eight ducklings have taken to the waters of the Little Riley along Campus Drive. It's difficult to photograph all the ducklings in a single photo shot, but the Icon was able to put this three-photo series together.

Three years ago the Icon posted a video created by Bill Suter on his journey flying over Big Riley Creek from Bluffton to Pandora.

Suter returns with this encore video showing Little Riley. It was created about a month ago, just before threes started to obscure the creek.

Funeral arrangements incomplete for Doris Fuerstenau

Doris L. Fuerstenau, 99, died on May 7, 2020, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

93 teddy bears in Bluffton windows

Teddy bears in Bluffton reacted to last month's nationwide craze of parking themselves in windows so that young children could look for them while riding in vehicles with their parents.

According to the Icon's count, 93 teddy bears participated in this project. Additional stuffed animals joined the fun including owls, llamas and even a beaver.

My awesome teacher - Mrs. Combs

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8. In cooperation with the Bluffton PTO, the Icon is posting drawings of elementary teachers created by elementary students. Haddy Glick, first graders, created this drawing of her teacher, Mrs. Combs.
