New format for Bluffton's Oct. 7 CROP Walk

The 2012 Bluffton CROP Walk is set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m. The theme for this year's event is, The Way of the Cross:  Walking for Hunger, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, president of the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association.

St. John's UCC Beef and Noodle Dinner on Oct. 19

 

St. John’s United Church of Christ's beef and noodle dinner, a Bluffton tradition, is back and slated for Friday, Oct. 19. Come and get a good home-cooked meal before the Bluffton High School homecoming football game.

The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in St. John’s Oppermann Hall, which can be accessed from College Avenue. (223 West College Ave.)

The dinner includes homegrown beef, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, roll, homemade pie and beverages.

Miss Ohio speaks Sunday at Bluffton Presbyterian Church

Miss Ohio, Elissa McCracken, will visit Bluffton on Sunday. Miss Ohio will speak during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning worship service at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church.

Rally Sunday and ice cream social at English Lutheran Church

The community is invited to join the people of English Lutheran Church for Rally Sunday and an ice cream social on Sunday, Sept. 16, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, pastor.  

The theme for this year's event is S.H.I.N.E.!

"First, we will gather for worship of Jesus as the Light of the World. During the worship service three young members of the congregation will receive their 3rd grade gift Bibles," he said.

Pandora United Methodist hosts community meal Sept. 26

The Pandora United Methodist Church will host a free community meal on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora.  The meal this month is provided by the Rebecca Circle  and is ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, dessert and beverage.

Food boxes available for residents in P-G district

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, persons must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, by calling 419-384-3905.

Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church located on State Route 12.
